University of Melbourne

Since 1992 the Foundation has worked with the University of Melbourne, to provide support of Australian art and artists by acquiring, researching, and exhibiting a unique and substantial collection of 130 works of art by 56 contemporary Australian artists. The major acquisition stage of this collection closed in 2001 but has been augmented by a small number of works gifted by exhibiting artists since that time.

The collection was on permanent loan to the University of Melbourne until 2024, and was used as the backbone of, or to supplement, many exhibitions over the years, as well as for educational, research and scholarly purposes. A high-quality online display of the collection, including high resolution images, commentary from art academics and artist interviews is publicly available, and is used as a key educational resource for University of Melbourne students.
