The Vizard Foundation has a long history of supporting emerging Australian comedic performers and writers.

In 2022, the Foundation partnered with VCA to help create a comedy writing course accessible to all undergraduate students at Melbourne University, entitled ‘Get Funny’. ‘Get Funny’ is a first of its kind offering at the University of Melbourne, encouraging students to take everyday moments and turn them into stories that connect with audiences. Students learn to satirise, subvert, and gain real skills from working comedians. The course covers the fundamentals of physical comedy, improvisation, parody, character, absurd, nonsense and extreme humour, story structure and Lazzi. Guided by experienced comedians, students develop original ideas, scrutinise the work of others, take part in collaborative processes and garner the building blocks for a successful performative comedy idea.
