We do not provide off-street parking, so would not recommend driving. Given the proximity of Vizard House to most hospitals and amenities, often walking or public transport is a better option in this part of the city for those who are able.
We are a 5 minute walk from Jolimont Station on the Hurstbridge and Mernda lines.
Stop 11 (Jolimont Station/MCG) is a 5 minute walk away. The 48 and 75 trams pass through this stop. These trams provide easy access to both the CBD, and Epworth Hospital Richmond.
Reservations for Vizard House are available by referral from the doctors, social workers or welfare workers at the hospital the patient is attending. Please telephone (03) 9419 8628 for further information.
Residents and potential guests are encouraged to discuss arrangements and any concerns with the resident manager, who can help with access to support services, as well as practical advice on matters such as transport, shopping and negotiating the Melbourne environment.
Accommodation at Vizard House is only available for friends or family supporting patients in Melbourne hospitals, and not for patients themselves. In addition, guests must be in personal circumstances which make it impractical for them to use commercial accommodation for the duration of their stay. The social workers at the hospital the patient is attending will be able to provide more information about your eligibility.
The cost to stay at Vizard House will depend on a variety of factors, including your place of residence, but nightly costs for a single guest are generally equivalent to the VPTAS (the Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme) rebate. This results in a fully reimbursed stay for eligible guests. Modest extra fees will apply for additional guests.
Payment for accommodation will need to be made on the day of your stay, either in cash, by credit card or EFTPOS. A refundable deposit will be charged for your room and house key.
Unfortunately, we do not provide off-street parking, so we would not recommend driving to Vizard House. We are, however, located walking distance from most major hospitals, and the CBD, and have an abundance of nearby public transport options.
